Preguntas frecuentes

Frequently asked questions

How is Ciclara different from a period calendar?

A calendar tells you which day you are on. Ciclara tries to tell you why you feel the way you do: it cross-references your phases with your sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and activity, and shows you the differences it finds. It does predict your next period, but that is the floor, not the product.

Can I use it as contraception?

No. The fertile window you see is a statistical estimate from your logged dates, and ovulation shifts from cycle to cycle even in regular ones. Ciclara cannot be used to avoid a pregnancy, nor to confirm one. It is the app's single most important limitation, which is why it is also in the terms.

How many cycles does it need to be accurate?

It works from day one using the usual length you enter at the start, but the prediction is computed from the median of your logged cycles, so it improves with every one. When there is not yet enough history to claim something, the app says so rather than handing you a number dressed up as certainty. The patterns have their own minimums: the sleep one, for instance, needs at least six nights in each phase before it compares anything.

Why does it ask for Apple Health permissions, and what exactly does it read?

That is where half the app's value comes from. It reads sleep analysis, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, active energy, workouts and the menstrual flow record. Nothing else, and all of it is processed on your iPhone. If you are coming from another app and already had periods logged in Health, Ciclara sees them and can give you a finding on day one.

Does it write anything to Apple Health?

Only if you turn it on, and only two things: your period days and spotting, so they sit alongside the rest of your history. You can revoke the write permission without losing the read one, and vice versa, in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.

Is basal temperature read from the watch?

No: you enter it in the app. Asking Health for a temperature most people have never recorded would pad the permission sheet without buying anything, so Ciclara does not ask.

What is in the PDF report?

Your average cycle and period length, your regularity — or «not enough data yet», when that is the truth — your history of period start dates, your most frequent symptoms, the patterns Ciclara found, and the methodology with its sources. It is in your language, it paginates once you have a year of logging, and it is generated on your device: you share it like any other file.

What is partner mode?

A short message, with no raw data in it, summarising how you are and what helps, so you do not have to explain it from scratch every month. It creates no accounts and shares nothing on its own: Ciclara writes the text, you read it, and you send it wherever you like. If you do not send it, it never leaves the phone.

Are the texts explaining my patterns written by an AI in the cloud?

No. They are written by the model built into iOS, on your own device, with no call to any external service. On iPhones where that model is unavailable, Ciclara uses template text; the calculation underneath is the same.

What is free and what is Ciclara Pro?

Free forever: logging your period and symptoms, the phase calendar, the next-period prediction, the top two findings, the widget, the Live Activity, the Apple Watch app and the whole methodology section. Pro unlocks the rest of the patterns, the Apple Health cross-analysis, the fertility, pregnancy and perimenopause modes, partner mode and the PDF report.

We never gate logging, accessibility, or the explanation of how a number was reached: locking you out of your own history, or charging you for the app to work with VoiceOver, would be indefensible.

How does the free trial work, and how do I cancel it?

If you are eligible, the first two weeks of the annual plan are not charged; when it ends it renews by itself at €49.99 a year until you cancel. There is also a €7.99 monthly plan and a €129.99 one-off purchase that never renews. To cancel, go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple manages it, so refunds follow their policies. If you change device, use «Restore purchases» in the app's Settings.

It is a two-week trial, not one week. Why?

Because seven days fit inside a single phase of the cycle, and everything Ciclara analyses is the difference between phases. In one week it could not have shown you the very thing you are trying it for.

Who can see what I log?

Only you. There is no account, no server and no sync with anything of ours: nothing leaves the phone unless you export the report or generate the partner message and choose to share it. You can also lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID in Settings.

Will the notifications say «your period is coming» on my lock screen?

Only if you want them to. Discreet mode rewords the reminders into something that gives nothing away to anyone glancing at your screen, and the lock-screen countdown is worded neutrally from the outset.

New phone: does my data come with me?

If you restore the new device from an iCloud or computer backup, Ciclara's data travels with it. Since there is no server, there is no other way to recover it: uninstall the app with no backup and it is gone. The purchase always comes back with «Restore purchases», because Apple handles that part.

Can I delete everything?

Yes, from the app's Settings, with a double confirmation because there is no undo. Uninstalling the app also erases everything. Anything Ciclara wrote to Apple Health is deleted from the Health app, which is where it lives.

Which languages does it support?

English and Spanish.
